ITB’s Co-Founder and current portfolio manager is Gerry “Gerry” Black. After graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in Finance, he went to work for his father’s FINRA registered broker dealer, James I Black & Company (JIB), which was established in 1964. Upon his father’s retirement, Gerry became President of the company, and has managed the company for the past 30+ years. For over 50 years, JIB has established a reputation for providing exemplary personalized service, in all facets of financial planning and asset management. JIB is also an introducing broker registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (“CFTC”), and is a member of the National Futures Association (“NFA”).

Gerry has specialized in futures and futures options trading, which became an integral part of JIB’s business. As a result of his involvement in this area, he became a CFTC-registered Associated Person of JIB in 1984, an NFA Associate Member in 1985, and a CFTC- listed Principal of JIB in 1987.

Since 2005, and the establishment of ITB Capital Advisor’s sister company, ITB Capital Management, LLC, Gerry has devoted the great majority of his time managing client assets in three dedicated managed futures funds, and individual accounts.

Jeffrey Dean

ITB’s Co-Founder and current portfolio manager is Jeffrey “Jeff” Dean.  Jeff has over 23 years of experience trading stocks, bonds and equity options, as well as over 18 years’ experience trading commodity futures contracts, futures options, and similar derivatives for proprietary and closely held accounts.

Jeff graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1980 with a BBA in Accounting, and attended the University Of Mississippi School Of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctorate in 1983.  He also earned his Master of Laws in taxation from New York University in 1984, and is a member of the bar in the states of Mississippi and Florida.  He also completed the Certified Public Accountant (“CPA”) exam, and practiced briefly with Deloitte Haskins & Sells in Memphis, Tenn

From 1984 to 1996, Jeff was an attorney and partner of Annis, Mitchell, Cockey, Edwards & Roehn, P.A., a Tampa, Florida law firm specializing in tax and estate planning.  From 1996 until joining ITB in 2005, he was the Chief Operating Officer and an equity owner of a private building products company, which was ultimately sold to a well-known global conglomerate. 

Wall Street, and the markets have been a passion of Jeff’s since childhood, and he has traded for his own account from an early age, until establishing ITB in order to devote full time to trading.

Jeff became a Commodity Futures Trading Commission (“CFTC”) registered Associated Person & Principal of ITB in 2006, and NFA Associate Member that same year.  Jeff is Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”) Series 3, 7, 24, 30 & 63 & 66 examination qualified.  He is also the past President and former member of the Board of Directors of the Suncoast Chapter of the Leukemia Society of America. 


Dave Dalton

Dave is responsible for client relations, with a focus on high net worth individuals.  Dave has held senior management and ownership positions in various entrepreneurial ventures for over 40 years, in and around the Lakeland and Tampa Florida areas. 

Dave graduated from the University of Florida, with a Bachelor of Science Degree, in Business Administration in 1978.  He was born in Lakeland, Florida and serves on the St. Joseph’s Foundation Board of Directors, and the Peach to Peace.  He has also served as the past Chairman of the Lakeland Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, and previously served on its National Marketing Committee. 

Dave became both a Commodity Futures Trading Commission (“CFTC”) registered Associated Person of James I Black & Company (“JIB”) in 2009, and also a member of the National Futures Association (“NFA”) that same year. 

Dave is Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”) Series 3 examination qualified.


Matthew W. Lyons

Matt responsibilities at ITB include fundamental research analysis, with a focus on global macro events.  He is also responsible for providing input on ITB’s numerous trading strategies. He joined ITB in 2006.

Jeff Jr., is the son of one of the Co-Founders of ITB, Jeff Dean.  Jeff Jr’s responsibilities include executing orders as well as performing ongoing margin analysis for ITB’s accounts.  His daily interaction includes the firm’s clearing relationships, as well as execution firms. 

Jeff Jr. received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida in 2010, before joining ITB in 2011. 

Jeff Jr. became a Commodity Futures Trading Commission (“CFTC”) registered Associated Person & Principal of ITB Capital Advisors, LLC in 2012, and also a member of the National Futures Association (“NFA”) in 2011.
